Join us this Sunday for a candle lit yin yoga and yoga nidra evening. The perfect way to end your week.
Sunday 10th November at the public hall, Liskeard.
Yoga nidra is a deeply guided relaxation which helps to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (most people know it as the system that is responsible for the rest & digest response), as well as taking your brain on a much needed transformation through varying brain waves. Yoga nidra is a process the brain goes through and it is a state of being.
As your mind starts to settle into the yoga nidra practice your brain will transition through different brain waves which will begin to activate different areas of the brain. When the amygdala is under chronic stress we can become more reactive. Chronic stress tends to happen when our sympathetic nervous system is in overdrive. Yin and yoga nidra can help bring you out of the fight/flight response and reduces cortisol levels (stress hormone). The thalamus is also activated as stress levels lower. The thalamus helps to regulate sleep and alertness. It also helps to calm the amygdala and relays sensory signals to the cerebral cortex. The benefits of a Nidra practice continue long after the session has ended.
Buddhist texts describe Nidra as a place beyond words. A place to receive secret knowledge.
£20 per session.
