Start 2025 with a bang! The inaugural ‘Wassail Lyskerrys’ takes place in Castle Park on January 4th at 4.30pm.
Dress up, bring a torch and a musical instrument, or anything really, to wake up those apple trees and provide a good crop in the autumn.
If you can manage the inclines of Pike Street and Castle Hill, join our procession from the Public Hall at 4.00pm on January 4th, led by musicians playing the ‘Fer Lyskerrys’ (Liskeard Fair). Or go direct to Castle Park and join in the traditional Wassail awakening, the ‘Shallal’ (an infernal noise) and the Serpent Dance.
This West Country tradition lasts about 30 minutes then it’s back to the Public Hall for refreshments and a sing song. This is a FREE event and open to all, organised by Liskeard Old Cornwall Society.
