Stand Up Comedy Workshop

Dobfools pop up comedy club is pleased to present a stand up comedy workshop run by Dave Thompson on 1st October 2017, 1200-1830.

The course is suitable all levels, from someone interested in finding out about comedy or experienced performers wanting to develop techniques. As things like this don’t happen in Cornwall often it is going to be a 6 and a half hour intense workshop to give everyone the opportunity to learn as much as possible. Students will also have the chance to perform and record a 5 minute set in front of the class (not a requirement for anyone not comfortable doing it), which will be dropboxed to them afterwards so they have a recording they can use to get open mic spots.

The provisional schedule for the day is as follows, but it is flexible enough that things can be added/missed depending on what attendees want if you let us know when you book.

1200-1300 – Introductions/intro games/warm ups/breathing techniques/stage techniques/using a mic/what to expect
1300-1400 – Improv games/confidence building
1400-1430 – Developing a good 5/getting spots
1430-1530 – work through lunch/work on developing own 5 spots (sandwiches provided)
1530-1630 – Clowning/playing the fool (or topics of the groups choice, we are open to suggestions)
1630 – Perform 5s, have them filmed if wanted.
1730/1800 ish feedback/q&a/overspill time. Be done by 1830 for people to catch trains.
