September 28, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Event Navigation
Celebrate St Matthew’s Fair with fun games, good food and great company! You’re sure to have fun so don’t miss out!
Richard, Earl Of Cornwall granted a charter to Liskeard in 1266 which allowed the town to hold a fair on the feast of Matthew every year. The origins of the fair have been lost over the passage of time but in 1976 The Lions Club revived the fair and have carried on the tradition to this day.
Part of the day will be the International Festival of Gnomes, Fairies, Sprites and other Rare Garden Creatures. Bring your garden gnome, or come dressed as one (or any magical garden creature) and enter a competition to win fabulous prizes. Enter in the Cattle Market from 10am for gnomes and 11.30am for fairies, judging at 12 and 12.30pm. You gnome you want to!
If you would like a stall on the day, please download an application form from Liskeard Lions website – there is FREE entry for all charity stalls
