Seaweed Pressing Workshop – Liskeard Library

May 22 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

| £27

Join Liskeard Library to learn the craft of seaweed pressing – a Victorian practice that captures the underwater beauty of seaweeds. This workshop will be at Liskeard Library on Thursday 22nd May, between 7pm and 9pm.

You will create your own seaweed print and able to take this away with you after it has been pressed and dried

During the workshop you will learn to recognise and identify local seaweed species. The cultural history of seaweeds will be discussed, as well it’s agricultural, scientific and ecological uses. You will learn how to forage, store and use this abundant resource.

After laying out your designs they will be loaded into a seaweed press where they will dry over the next weeks.

You will be able to collect the pieces from the CAST Studio in Helston at a later date or alternatively we can post them to you.
