Ronnie Jones Quartet – Calstock Arts Centre
March 11, 2017 @ 8:00 pm
Well known on the south west jazz circuit, this Devon-based band has established a reputation for bringing accessible chamber jazz to a wider audience.
Band leader Ronnie is an in-demand jazz drummer and percussionist, known for sensitive and imaginative playing, with performances as varied as the Welsh Proms to The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC 6 Music.
Ronnie is joined by guitarist Joss Kidd, whose playing mixes Pat Metheny’s imagination with the soulful emotional connection of Joe Pass and Jim Hall. On Bass is David George, a well-respected player from Big Band to Duo format.
The guys are joined by saxophonist, band leader and teacher Andy Williamson. A fine player, Andy has played at the highest level, including performances with Duke Ellington on BBC Radio 4, as well as legendary musicians across many genres from Tom Robinson and Suggs to Al Casey and Martha Reeves & The Vandellas!
