National Garden Scheme Dobwalls Gardens
Three very different gardens within a few minutes drive from each other in Dobwalls are open for the National Garden Scheme as a group, £8 entry for admission to all of them. Friday 16th and Saturday 17th June, 1-5pm.
The garden at Dove Cottage was replanted from scratch in 2017 showing what can be achieved in 6 yrs. Separate areas with different types of planting. Emphasis on colour. Narrow winding paths, shady pergola, deck with tropical planting, tiny sunroom, lush foliage area.
9 Higman Close, a restless, constantly changing, unapologetically busy garden, full of good plants with colour, scent and surprises. Glasshouse overflowing with cacti and succulents, some over 35 yrs old.
The garden at South Bosent is an example of work in progress, currently being developed from farmland. The aim is to create a combination of interesting plants coupled with habitat for wildlife over a total of 9 ½ acres. Several garden areas, woodland gardens, a meadow, ponds of varying sizes, inc new rill and waterfall. In spring, the bluebell wood trail runs alongside the stream.
Refreshments – Home-made teas at South Bosent.
