An illustrated talk for Liskeard Arts Society. The Cult of Celebrity – Omai the Exotic
and Joshua Reynolds by Leslie Primo.
Leslie looks at the events that led up to Joshua Reynolds’ portrait of Omai the Exotic becoming an emblematic and iconic image representing Britain at the very height of it’s imperial powers.
This talk will be on Tuesday 10th October at the Public Hall, West Street, Liskeard, PL14 6BW. Meet at 7pm for conversation – and we’re providing refreshments again, though it’d be nice if you’d bring your own reusable cup… The talk starts at 7.30pm and ends at about 9pm.
FREE for members, guests and visitors welcome – £8 at the door.
