Murder Most Florid — How Plants Help Solve Crime! A talk by Mark Spencer. Liskeard Public Hall, Tuesday 9th April. The hall is open from 7pm for refreshments – coffee/tea, biscuits and wine – and conversation. The talk starts at 7.30 pm. Non-members are welcome to come along, admission is £8 per person (this will be deducted from your annual sub if you choose to join us on the day)
Plants can be silent witnesses to crimes. Their presence in many crime scenes can help an investigator identify a suspect or locate a victim. Apparently mundane plants such as brambles and nettles can provide valuable insights into when a crime was committed. Fragments of leaves and seeds embedded in soil on the footwear of a suspect can place them at the scene.
Liskeard Arts Society is a member society of The Arts Society (https://theartssociety.org/). It was formed to bring together people who are curious about and interested in human artistic achievement in the world about us. So we give a series of beautifully illustrated lectures, and arrange visits to museums, galleries, houses and gardens, allowing you to increase and broaden your knowledge of art in the widest sense of the word, in the company of other like-minded people; our meetings are characterised by plenty of animated conversation.
Our annual programme includes nine monthly lectures and two Discovery Days on a wide range of subjects by Arts Society lecturers, all experts in their field. We also organise day visits and longer tours to places of artistic interest.
Most of our members come from South East and East Cornwall; members from other areas are always welcome to join us.
