April 3 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Event Navigation
Join writer in residence on Wednesday 3rd and 10th April, from 10am – 12pm at Liskeard Library. Peter McAllister is holding a children’s creative writing workshop so you can explore the magic of language and writing. 7-11 yrs.
Creative writing allows children to explore their imagination, develop language skills, and express their personalities.
Attendees will learn how to make characters leap off the page and resonate with readers. They’ll explore creating believable protagonists, antagonists and other characters that make up their stories.
They’ll learn about writing exercises and games they can use themselves in the future, helping them to understand:
What characters are needed in a story
How to create a protagonist
Why readers relate to and care about characters
How to strengthen reader interest in stories.
During the workshop, your child will take their first steps in creative writing. Inspired by a variety of resources – including sounds, visual aids and stories – the aim is to boost confidence in their writing and inspire them to enjoy all aspects of English – both writing (in all its forms) and reading.
Children of all abilities are welcome.
£10 per child. Booking needed, please book on the Real Ideas website.
