Event Navigation
Join writer in residence on Wednesday 3rd and 10th April, from 1pm – 3pm at Liskeard Library. Peter McAllister is holding a children’s creative writing workshop so you can explore the magic of language and writing. 11-14 yrs.
About this event:
Creative writing allows children to explore their imagination, develop language skills, and express their personalities.
Peter McAllister, Liskeard Library’s Writer in Residence, will lead this fun session for kids aged 11-14 years. Attendees will explore how to keep readers glued to their pages and avoid the dreaded ‘story-wandering’ by mastering the essential elements of plot and structure.
They’ll learn about writing exercises and games they can use themselves in the future, helping them to understand:
· What plot and structure are
· Brainstorming of new ideas
· Shape/structure of a story
· Storyboarding and storytelling.
During the workshop, your child will take their first steps in creative writing. Inspired by a variety of resources – including sounds, visual aids and stories – the aim is to boost confidence in their writing and inspire them to enjoy all aspects of English – both writing (in all its forms) and reading.
Children of all abilities are welcome.
£10 per child. Booking needed, please book on the Real Ideas website.
