Dying Matters Day – Pentiddy

May 12 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

| Free

Free event – Everyone welcome!  Sunday 12th May 2024, 1.30pm – 4.30pm.

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to an open day as part of Hospice UK’s Dying Matters Awareness Week. The afternoon will be an opportunity for us to explore together our choices around death and dying with the hope of bringing death back into the heart of our communities and empowering us to make the most of our (finite) lives. Talking about death also won’t bring it closer, and lots of families find it’s a relief to have the conversation and get everything into the open. It can help you and your loved ones cope better with the emotional and practical impact of death.

1:30pm A tour of Pentiddy Natural Burial Site with Ele and Anthony Waters
2:30pm Information and chat. In the glade by the roundhouse there will be a wide variety of related information, professionals to talk to and examples of locally crafted sustainable coffins, shrouds and floristry. There will also be a space set aside for quiet reflection.
3pm – 4:30pm Death Cafe. In the roundhouse, hosted by Confortia*. An informal and safe space (with tea and cake!) to chat about our own experiences and feelings around death and dying and to ask questions that are hard to ask. It will be led by volunteers who themselves have been actively involved in different ways with death or the dying process…. in both a personal and a professional way.

Dogs on leads welcome.
