Black Prince Flower Boat Festival

February 24 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join us in celebrating our traditional annual Black Prince Flower Boat Festival to celebrate the welcoming of summer this May Day!
Festivities include a fantastic parade, Morris dancing and fetes bursting with local talent, delicious drinks and yummy food!
Monday 5th May, 10am to 5pm

This historic event starts in Millbrook at circa 10am and the procession winds its way around Millbrook and then on to Kingsand and Cawsand.

A traditional May Day festival to banish winter and welcome in the spring and summer – with hope for a fruitful harvest from land and sea.

Local homes and businesses decorate their houses to celebrate May Day and the festivities.

The festivities include music, song and dance through the streets, Maypole and Morris dancing, Town Criers and young Town Crier competition, crowning the May Day King and Queen, garden fetes (Millbrook and Kingsand fetes both commence at midday) , music and choirs, green men, the traditional Cornish chough, and local fayre.

The Black Prince flower boat, decked in fresh flowers, which has been carried shoulder high through the local villages, by ratings from HMS Raleigh, is launched from Cawsand beach at around 4pm.
