Commemorating World War 1 Centenary Exhibition
Liskeard Methodist Church
Monday to Saturday during August. 10 am to 12.30 pm
The exhibition comprises items donated by the congregation of the church and friends from Methodist churches in the surrounding area. Many of the displays relate to family members, many of them from the Liskeard area and others from further afield. All tell a story about experiences in WWI.
Please enter the exhibition through the left door from the porch into the church.
Royal British Legion Drumhead Service

To commemorate the start of World War 1 a Drumhead Service will take place at 2pm in Westbourne Gardens. If you would like to follow the parade, meet at Westbourne car park at 1.30pm.

Lights Out – One Million Candles to Remember

Join the British Legion in this national moment of reflection – a candle-lit vigil to mark the centenary. Bring your own candle or a special Centenary candle (available from M&S) and pay your respects to those who gave their lives in WW1.

will be producing a map and photos of local war memorials and also putting together a collection of poems written by students on a WW1 theme
Liskeard History Group
Is researching what happened on the home front and the role of women during the war
The Caradon Writers Group
Is producing a collection of biographical writing around people from Caradon during WW1
The Cornish Times
Will be printing news stories from its own archives on significant dates.
The Town Floral Displays
will be red this year; poppies will be planted around the crosses at the entrances to Liskeard and knitted poppies will decorate the town around Remembrance Day
