Looe Valley Singers
http://www.looevalleysingers.org.uk/Do you enjoy singing? Come and try us out – we would love to meet you.
We are a friendly group of ladies, of all ages, and we sing everything from Mozart to Motown – 60s hits are some of our faves!
The choir has been singing in the community for well over 30 years, raising thousands of pounds for local charities. We sing regularly to raise funds at the Lifeboat Station in Looe, together with one off fundraisers for good causes such as “Cots for Tots” (supporting a special care baby unit accommodation unit), Cornwall Air Ambulance, Ellie’s Haven, local churches and other good causes.
We also sing for and with the residents of Hillcrest, The Echo Centre, Morley Tamblyn Lodge, Coombe House and at the local music festivals at Looe and Polperro and Fowey. Other venues have included Mount Edgcumbe, Cotehele, Lanhydrock, Eden, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Looe Seafront, The Millpool Centre and also West Looe, Looe Community Academy, Millbrook Chapel, St Germains Church, and Talland Church, not to mention Quiberon in France.
We sing as guests of other choirs, and invite choirs and other singers to accompany us at some of our performances, including Java 5, The Liskerret Male Voice Choir, Leon Harvey and Maggie Holden. We have sung with several other choirs for occasions such as The Man Engine too.
Our social events include fish and chip suppers, quizzes and always some singing.
We meet on a Thursday evening in Riverside Church, West Looe. You don’t have to audition and we won’t believe you if you say you can’t sing – come along and give us a try.
Interested? Want to have a listen? Then come along to practice on Thursday evening. See you at 7.00pm.
