Accessible Area – We’re creating an accessible area in front of the stage for people with mobility issues or people who need an uncrowded space.  It’s shown on the plan.  If you arrive before the road closure at 5pm you can be dropped off by car at this area.

Noise – We know crowds and music can be overwhelming.  There will be two bands playing in the parade as well as music before the Christmas tree lights are switched on.

For those individuals or families looking for a break from the busy town activities, lantern parade or fireworks, the library will have a quieter space upstairs in their rooms where families can relax and unwind in a calm and festive setting with games and sensory lighting. There will also be a sensory space in the Mayor’s Parlour in the Public Hall.

The Museum will also be open for anyone who wants to be inside during the fireworks, which will take place just after the lights are switched on.

Parking – The closest car park to the lights switch on is Westbourne car park, entrance via West Street. There are 9 disabled parking spaces.  Walk through via Pig-meadow Lane, step free access to Barras Street past the Wellbeing Centre.

Toilets – There are disabled toilets in the Library, Museum and Public Hall (which also has a changing places toilet).

Timings:

4pm

Liskeard & Looe Radio will begin broadcasting Christmas music from outside Webbs House.

5pm

The road closure starts.

Roads closed:

Barras Street – 5pm-8pm

Fairpark road, Dean Street, Pike Street, Fore Street and Dean Street will also be closed during the lantern parade (approx 5.25pm-5.40pm and 6.30pm-6.45pm)

Access to Westbourne car park during these times will be via Greenbank Road, Tremeddan Lane, Barras Place to West Street.

The nearest drop off point for people with access needs during this time will be adjacent to the old Cornish Ivy building but we would recommend arriving earlier when you will be able to drop off at the top of Pike Street close to the accessible area.

The muster will begin at the Cattle Market events area for those taking part in the lantern parade.

5.30pm

The extravaganza lantern parade will depart from the cattle market along the route shown on the map:

  • along Dean Street
  • up Barras Street
  • down Pike Street
  • along Fore Street
  • up Bay Tree Hill
  • back along Barras Street

6pm
